Quick Tip: How To Get Lots More Raw Veggies Into Your Life!
May 10th, 2010 by Dorota Zuzanna
Do you find you don’t get enough whole veggies into your diet simply because you are lazy? Or too busy? You don’t have time to munch and chew like a monkey for hours per day – after all, you have a life, right?
The answer: Have plenty of sliced raw veggies (the fancy word for which is: crudites) on hand to munch on – preferably some place where you can see them. As soon as you get hungry or need a snack… you will see the veggie just there looking at you, begging to be eaten! Before you know it, they will all be gone. In fact, you won’t be able to resist it!
I often prepare a nice tray of crudites in the morning and place them near my computer for the day.. Sometimes I eat two extra cucumbers in a day without even trying. Instead of having to get up to go to the kitchen and prepare a snack, I just grab the most delicious thing from my tray and munch away.
Great options for crudites are:
- sliced red peppers (so crunchy and juicy!)
- cucumber slices (very refreshing!)
- zuccini (nice and soft to eat)
- eggplant slices (yes, you can eat it raw)
- okras (nice and creamy on the inside)
- snow or sugar snap peas (crispy and sweet)
- celery bites
Fruit crudites are cool too, but since fruit is usually sweeter & softer, it’s just easier to eat overall, so I’m staying true to the title of this post, which is for veggies.
If you’re out and about, take veggie crudites along with you in a plastic bag. Admit it – you love convenient food. I do too. This is why this works. If it’s with you and it’s ready to eat, it is the most convenient option for a snack!
Try it on your kids or other family members. Place a sliced apple on a plate near where they are working and it will be gone in no time.
Happy Snacking!
